Which classic line from the original Pirates ride has been utilised for the title of the next cinematic instalment?
Walt Disney Pictures have today revealed the title of the fifth instalment in the Pirates of the Caribbean motion picture franchise. Taking place after the events of 2011's On Stranger Tides, the narrative of the latest chapter in Jack Sparrow's journey is currently shrouded in secrecy, but it has been speculated that the only returning cast members will be the crew of the Black Pearl rather than Penelope Cruz or Geoffrey Rush.
The news of the next film's title comes from the pair of directors helming Pirates 5, Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. Ready? It's called Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Dedicated fans of the franchise as a whole will recall that the phrase "Dead Men Tell No Tales" is derived from the words of a villainous buccaneer encountered in the original Pirates boat ride attraction at Disneyland theme parks which originally inspired the movies. Certainly, this is a rather neat homage from the production team, but the more important matter at hand is surely whether this fifth film can recapture the charm and vigour of the original trilogy rather than falling into the trap of the tedious shores found in On Stranger Tides.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales sails into cinemas worldwide on July 10th, 2015.
