The Prince's latest adventure is a mobile exclusive game that remakes one of the most popular classic incarnations...Ubisoft Games have today announced the development of Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame for release on mobile devices later this month. A remake of classic side-scrolling platformer Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame, this new edition will feature HD graphics as well as controls created specifically for touch screen-based devices such as the iPhone and the Windows Phone 8.
For those of us in the gaming community who were hoping to see a fully-fledged next-generation Prince of Persia title announced, this reveal has come as something of a shock and moreso a disappointment. Indeed, it's just as surprising as Microsoft's decision to have its latest annual Halo instalment be the new mobile strategy title Halo: Spartan Assault, although perhaps these mobile projects allow other sections of the development teams more time to work on unannounced new titles for the near future.
Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame will retail on iOS and Android devices on July 25th.
