Capcom bring us yet another incarnation of their whimsical, tired fighting video game next year.
Ever remember the times when Capcom made new fighting video games? Those were the days. The development studio has today announced the development of Ultra Street Fighter IV for release next year. A new expansion pack for the hit 2008 fighter, Ultra adds three 'classic' characters from past entries in the acclaimed franchise along with addressing a few criticised aspects of the product's original gameplay engine.
To be perfectly frank, however, it should seem difficult now for even the most hardened series veterans to bother much with this. Super Street Fighter IV was perhaps the greatest possible expansion pack ever devised for a fighter such as this, with Super Street Fighter IV 3DS Edition proving to be little more than an underwhelming port and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition simply achieving what it said on the arcade cabinet in venues across the United States. It appears unlikely that Ultra's offerings will be anything more substantial than what's already available, and those who've yet to pick up the package would likely be safer to spend around £5 on the tried-and-tested Super version.
Ultra Street Fighter IV retails on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in Spring 2014.
