Explore and observe realms further than humanity has ever ventured once again this September...Paramount Pictures have this week announced the release date for Star Trek Into Darkness' DVD and Blu-Ray retail launch. Directed by JJ Abrams, Into Darkness focuses on a disbanded Enterprise crew rebuilding their strength as a deadly threat from within the ranks of their own race threatens the sanctity of the entire universe.
For those of you initiated who missed this blockbuster release earlier this year, sufficed to say that having earned a 4* score here at On-Screen, Into Darkness warrants your attention. While its twists aren't exactly original and Benedict Cumberbatch is a sole highlight performance amongst an underwhelming supporting cast, Abrams' ambitious sequel does feature some of the most refined direction, special effects and setpieces of 2013 so far, even if it can't quite offer much beyond those strengths.
Star Trek Into Darkness blasts into DVD and Blu-Ray retailers on September 10th.
