Our first look at one of 2014's most exciting movie prospects.
20th Century Fox have today revealed the first promotional image from their upcoming fantasy film Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Set eight years after the events of 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes, this much-anticipated sequel focuses on intelligent primate Caesar's attempts to retain control as his increasingly cunning colleagues begin to question his motives against the depleted ranks of humanity.
Today, courtesy of Fox's ComicCon panel we've got the image you see above. Caesar is looking considerably older and wizened eight years on from Rise, but there's no mistaking that this is one ape leader that viewers would not want to mess with in the forests on the outskirts of New York. Behind him stands an army of semi-intelligent primates prepared to wage war on the remainder of humanity left after the infectious plague released at the climax of the 2011 instalment. Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke and Gary Oldman are the movie's leads, so expect nothing less than a Film of the Year 2014 contender next Summer.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes roars into cinemas worldwide on July 18th, 2014.
