Marvel Studios and Entertainment Weekly have today announced the production of Agent Carter, a new instalment in the 'Marvel One-Shot' series set for release later this year. The franchise of mini-movies focusing on secondary characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe such as Agent Coulson has launched on a number of Avengers Blu-Ray films including Thor and Avengers Assemble.
Agent Carter will be included as part of the upcoming Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray package. Set a year after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger for Hayley Atwell's beloved titular protagonist, the short film sees Peggy Carter grieving for Steve Rogers' alleged demise, only to be forced into a mission of espionage by her former generals that involves teaming up with Howard Stark to track down the mysterious Zodiac. ComicCon attendees next week will get to see the flick in advance, but on the plus side, fans unable to reach San Diego don't have long to wait either!
Iron Man 3 is set for release on Blu-Ray (containing Agent Carter) and DVD this September 9th.
