Who News: Tenth Doctor 50th BFI Screening Announced

"The ending approaches. People, planets and stars will become dust, and the dust will become atoms, and then...nothing."
The BBC and the British Film Institute have this week confirmed the Doctor Who story that will be used to represent the era of David Tennant's Tenth Doctor at BFI Southbank later this year. This screening will be the latest in a series of eleven showings of beloved classic and modern Who adventures poised to celebrate the 50th Anniversary throughout the year, with Paul McGann's Eighth Doctor set to be represented in October with a screening of The Movie.

The aforementioned adventure is none other than the hit 2008 two-part season finale The Stolen Earth/Journey's End. A climactic adventure to David Tennant's final full season as the Doctor, Stolen/Journey's End featured each and every companion from the era of this incarnation, including Rose Tyler, Captain Jack Harkness, Martha Jones and Donna Noble as well as a host of supporting characters such as Mickey Smith, Sarah-Jane Smith and Jackie Tyler. It seems only apt that this landmark story has been included in the 50th run, given that it represents one of the most acclaimed instalments of recent times.

Doctor Who: The Stolen Earth/Journey's End broadcasts at the British Film Institute in London's Southbank on September 29th.
