New Smash Bros WiiU Characters Announced

Olimar and a team of Pikmin return for further brawling escapades in next year's Nintendo exclusive!
Nintendo have today announced two more characters featuring in the fighter roster of their upcoming video game Super Smash Bros for WiiU. This inventively-titled new project was revealed at E3 as part of the publisher's Nintendo Direct showcase, where new characters including Megaman, Villager and the Wii Fit Trainer were confirmed to form part of its all-star mascot line-up of fighters.

Today, though, has seen the announcement of two classic characters- Olimar and his intrepid band of Pikmin. These fighters previously formed something of a tag team in earlier instalments of the Super Smash Bros franchise, yet it seems as if now with Pikmin 3 just around the corner, the two of them will feature as separate entities. How much all of this can help Nintendo given recent accusations of a lack of franchise innovation or indeed whether this pair will feature in the 3DS entry is all up to debate right now.

Super Smash Bros for WiiU and Super Smash Bros for 3DS will retail exclusively on Nintendo consoles in 2014.
