ComicCon: Avengers: Age Of Ultron Announced

Joss Whedon confirms the villain who'll battle against the Earth's Mightiest Heroes in 2015!
Joss Whedon and Marvel Studios have today announced the production of a new superhero film, Avengers: Age of Ultron, for release in 2015. The sequel to 2012's hit Avengers Assemble, Age of Ultron will introduce the titular near-invincible robotic antagonist into the mix, as well as bringing new heroes such as Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch to shake up the team dynamic.

This rather monumental news not-so-coincidentally comes hot on the heels of DC and Zack Snyder's Superman Vs. Batman crossover film announcement at the Warner Brothers panel earlier today. Fans were ecstatic to see a brief teaser trailer for Age of Ultron that utilised concept art of each of the Avengers' armour being scorched or brutally damaged, along with a foreboding image of Ultron himself at the end coupled with the name announcement and the confirmation of the movie's release window. Expect more details on the project at ComicCon 2014, once Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier have premiered and there's only Guardians of the Galaxy to go before this next glorious ensemble!

Avengers: Age of Ultron assembles in cinemas worldwide on May 1st, 2015.
