Marvel News: Joss Whedon On Avengers 2 & More

All of the latest details on The Avengers 2 and where female superheroes stand in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
You have to feel for most of the superhero films being released in 2013 and 2014, to some extent- all of this continuing furore and increasing excitement for The Avengers 2 isn't half going to rob them of some anticipation. Nevertheless, the Whedon train rolls on in ramping up the hype from fans for his second ensemble motion picture, as the acclaimed director gives us a few more teasers about what's to come in 2015.

Today, Whedon has commented both on Avengers 2 itself and indeed on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. With Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy still to come before The Avengers 2, we've got plenty to think about before Summer 2015, yet these new details are just as exciting...

  • ON AVENGERS 2'S NEW CHARACTERS- "Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are a huge part of Marvel's The Avengers 2. I'm really excited about it. I don't know what 20th Century Fox are doing [with Quicksilver in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past] and I'm determinably not knowing. They'll do their thing. I have to do mine."
  • ON MORE FEMALE SUPERHEROES IN THE FRANCHISE- "I do try to make sure that the women in the movies aren't window dressing, that they have something to say and something to do. And I've got some people in mind. Marvel's got some great characters, so why not draw on them?"
The Avengers 2 assembles in cinemas worldwide on May 1st, 2015.
