Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth's journey reaches its dramatic finale next month.
Irrational Games have today announced a global release date for their upcoming digital campaign BioShock Infinite: Burial At Sea Episode 2. The second instalment in a downloadable expansion to the runner-up for our Game of the Year 2013 award (more on that soon, by the way), Episode 2 continues its predecessor's exploration of the inception of Rapture's seedy corruption.
To be brutally honest, Irrational may well have shot themselves in the foot pre-emptively by choosing the release window that they have. March is already jam-packed with high-octane video game releases such as South Park: The Stick of Truth, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Dark Souls II, each of which have 'gone gold' and therefore won't be shifting from their slots anytime soon. The development team do appear to know their clear target audience for Episode 2, having littered its teaser trailer with references that only hardcore fans of BioShock and Infinite will pick up on, but should our attention be otherwise occupied (not an impossible eventuality by any stretch in light of next month's line-up), sales of this one may not pick up proper until the opening days of the Spring. A charming barbershop quartet once warbled the words "God only knows what I'd be without you" in Infinite's narrative- if Irrational continue along this underwhelming trajectory with future BioShock outings, then we may end up contemplating precisely that notion with regards to their famed cult franchise...
BioShock Infinite: Burial At Sea Episode 2 will retail via Xbox Live (360) and PlayStation Network (PS3) on March 25th at an RRP of £12.
