Doctor Who Magazine and Big Finish Productions have today announced the release of The Worlds of Doctor Who. A spiritual successor to the latter studio's acclaimed 50th Anniversary audio drama The Light at the End (which starred Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann, and desperately warrants your attention if you missed it in November 2013), the celebratory collection will be distributed on the eve of the fifteen-year anniversary of Big Finish's first Doctor Who release in 1999, The Sirens of Time.
As was the case with Light last year, this five-disc boxset will unite a number of different characters from across the classic Whoniverse to battle a deadly new threat. Here's a summary of each of the four dramas which will be available together in this commemorative Special Edition package:
- MIND GAMES- "Henry Gordon Jago (Christopher Benjamin) and Professon Litefoot (Trevor Baxter) investigate a sinister stage magician who is working at Jago's theatre in Victorian London. That magician, Mr Rees, will make his presence felt throughout these adventures, and he is played by none other than Jamie Glover, who portrayed William Russell in An Adventure In Space and Time."
- THE REESINGER PROCESS- "[In] the early 1960s, Rachel Jensen (Pamela Salem), Group Captain Gilmore (Simon Williams), Allison Williams (Karen Gledhill) and Sir Toby Kinsella (Hugh Ross) set Counter-Measures in motion when a number of high profile public figures die in strange circumstances."
- THE SCREAMING SKULL- "A few decades later, the UNIT vault is in lockdown, and Mike Yates (Richard Franklin) brings operatives Ruth Matheson (Daphne Ashbrook) and Charlie Sato (Yee Jee Tso) out of isolation in order to break inside."
- SECOND SIGHT- "The Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker) is on the scene - and so are agents from Gallifrey, in the form of Romana (Lalla Ward) and Leela (Louise Jameson). And the final battle with Rees commences..."
The Worlds of Doctor Who will be released in all good audio retailers this October.
