2011 Kinect Games To Watch #1: Star Wars

For fans of George Lucas' epic Star Wars saga (or at least the 1970-1980s run, the less said about Phantom, Attack and Revenge the better), the simple combination of a galaxy far, far away and Microsoft's Kinect should already be enough to justify a day one purchase. If, however, you don't fall into the category who at this very moment are developing their own religion called Jediism-yes, really, look it up!-then perhaps a few more reasons might be necessary to prove why the Xbox-exclusive instalment will make such big waves this Christmas. No one knows yet just who the main protagonist is, mainly because so far we've only seen his back and the cream robes he wears (yep, we're talking about a Jedi alright), but to be frank no one really cares what the characters look like as long as we get the chance to do some one-to-one wielding of a lightsaber and the Force like never before. The first trailer at E3 seemed to indicate just that, except for the fact that it could easily have been filmed on a short demo to gain interest and hint at perfection, only for the full product to include some lag or repetition. Wait a minute, why am I being so cynical? We are, of course, talking about LucasArts, the developer that brought us the Battlefront series (still waiting on a third entry, by the way, if anyone from the company is reading!), two superb Force Unleashed games and the four LEGO themed entries, so quality and fan service are pretty much given when this hits at Christmas, and the idea of finally becoming a Jedi (almost for real) in a world animated with simple but effective graphics akin to the Clone Wars series makes Kinect Star Wars look like the best game out for Microsoft's camera this year.
