Two comedies, both determined to best one another in the race for the most hilarious movie of 2011. Judging by the trailers, which will succeed?
THE PLOT- Neither the storyline of Cars 2 nor The Hangover: Part II was made any clearer by the first videos, yet at least in the former's we get details of Lightning McQueen's move to Tokyo and the spy flick tone it looks to encompass. WINNER: CARS 2
THE JOKES- Very few laughs come from either trailer here really, especially worrying for Cars 2 since the video was two minutes long. I got more hilarity out of The Hangover II here with the little monkey running in front of the ratpack wildly, so I'll go for that. WINNER: THE HANGOVER II
THE CAST- Predictably, the Hangover trailer sticks to the three protagonists of the original so doesn't hold much bearing as to cameos, whereas Cars showcases appearances from Owen Wilson, Michael Caine and Jason Isaacs so has much more going for it. WINNER: CARS 2
WHICH WOULD I RATHER SEE?- Only for now, judging on the length of the video and that we know more about it, I would prefer to see Cars 2, but that might all change later. WINNER: CARS 2
OVERALL- Normally I'd put The Hangover: Part II down to win, however the trailer didn't tell me enough to make a conclusion as to whether the sequel is a worthwhile one, so Cars 2 comes top!
