X-Men (2000) and Fantastic Four (2005) were both great superhero films, but which one is the best adaptation of a comic book franchise? Time to find out:
PLOT- Both films take their time getting past the origins tale, but to its satisfaction Fantastic Four then injects comedy and a feeling of a well-rounded adventure to make for an epic yarn. WINNER: FANTASTIC 4
ORIGINS- Once again Fantastic Four wins out here, making a lot more sense by not using convoluted flashbacks and fully fleshing out the origins of the team for a modern audience. WINNER: FANTASTIC 4
CAST- X Men would easily win this one with Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman and Ian McKellen, yet the chemistry of the Four and the lack of oomph from some of the lesser Xs gives F4 the upper hand. WINNER: FANTASTIC 4
OVERALL- Surprisingly enough a clear win for Fantastic Four, as X-Men hasn't aged nearly as well and goes for too much frontal action and not enough comedy or substance (the status quo for the entire franchise? Find out in the next couple of days!)
