Another Amazing Spider-Man Villain Revealed
Irrfan Kahn has been cast in the 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man as a villain some hardcore fans of the comic books might remember well: Nels Van Adder. Speaking to NDTV Movies today, Kahn revealed that he received the role in next year's version of the Webbed Wonder- chronicling Peter Parker's college years and his first battles as Spidey (Andrew Garfield) against the Lizard (Rhys Ifans)- because of his impressive work on the US drama 'In Treatment', explaining that "Marc Webb [the director of the revamp] approached me for this role of Van Adder- I play one of the villains in the movie. It is a pivotal role." That might well be true, since in the comics Van Adder is an employee at Oscorp, workplace of future Green Goblins Norman and Harry Osborn, and is eventually turned into a red beast called the Proto-Goblin by an experiment gone wrong. Could it be that this transformation will make an appearance in the reboot, giving Spider-Man even more trouble alongside the Lizard and wooing teenage crush Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone)? If Kahn's right that could well be the case. The reveal follows our first look at Spidey's new costume and the title being announced yesterday.
