Super Bowl Trailer Impressions
The Super Bowl half-time event is always a prime chance for brand new trailers of the hottest films due out in the year, and yesterday's event was no different. So, what were the actual sneak peeks like? Before the match even kicked off, we had glimpses at Kung Fu Panda 2- which looks pretty similar to the original movie, truth be said-, Rango- same old Johnny Depp, crazy as ever but in animated form- and Cowboys & Aliens, which is fast becoming the most anticipated science-fiction adventure of 2011, a fact which the TV spot took note of by throwing in the big battles and explosions that will surely form the flick's climax. Later on, however, things got very tasty as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was previewed (if you've seen the 3-D trailer at cinemas now, you would have known what to expect here as most clips were recycled from that) along with Thor (traditionally mythic fights between Norse heroes and villains, plus Natalie Portman), Captain America: The First Avenger (focused more on his creation than the film itself or its Avengers ties, hopefully the full trailer coming to cinemas soon will develop both) and Transformers: Dark of the Moon (stereotypical Michael Bay: giant robots, slow-mo and explosion upon explosion). Nothing really stood out from the crowd this time around, and even the much-hyped X Factor US preview was nothing more than Simon Cowell saying "The X Factor Needs YOU!" and a few well-known celebs like Justin Bieber backing him up. Never mind, though, as all of these and more will get full previews with upcoming movies very soon!
