Clone Wars: Ghosts Of Mortis Review (4/5)

The lore-heavy Mortis trilogy concluded this week in quite spectacular fashion as Anakin was given a full on glimpse at what his future will be if he continues down the road we know he will take, plus Liam Neeson tried to guide him once more as Qui-Gon Jinn in a brief but as ever sweet cameo. Aside from those surprising twists of fate, there was nothing here that we hadn't seen before in the Clone Wars spin-off series, a bit of a shame since Overlords and Altar of Mortis broke the trend considerably in the past two weeks. Ahsoka didn't get much to do here, and the only role of the Father was to warn Skywalker to "beware his heart" (in other words Padme, pretty much leading into the events of Episode III-VI). Even the generally awesome animation wasn't put to much use, only requiring a few setpieces that could be easily created by any show. Overall, Ghosts was a step down in many areas from its predecessor, but seeing the remaining films of the Star Wars saga played out in animated form and even Darth Vader himself making an appearance redeemed it as a satisfying finale to an impressive trilogy of episodes.
