LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: 3DS, New Shot
Although it's hardly going to worry the big names of 2011 such as Gears of War 3, Batman: Arkham City or Portal 2, to be fair LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game is looking alright, placing Johnny Depp into brick form as players tackle the humorously represented events of The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest and At World's End, plus new adventures in On Stranger Tides, the latest film in the franchise that the title is set to coincide with through its release in May. It's been revealed that a different version of LEGO POTC will hit the Nintendo 3DS at the same time as the others, boasting a Pirate Duel mode that will automatically pit your pirates against other players' when you pass them anywhere (utilising the 3DS's interesting StreetPass feature), earning you coins to buy new characters even when you're not playing. The handheld adaptation will "add new depth to the Pirates of the Caribbean universe" and "incorporate high resolution 3D effects", so 3DS fans should keep their eye on it. Meanwhile, a new screenshot of the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version has been released, showing Jack and Will outside Tortuga. In their recent hands-on, IGN said that "this is Traveller's Tales' most ambitious LEGO game" and "there's been a step up in standard, with the tiny improvements made to the core platform game already noticeable". Keep checking On-Screen for more LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean shots and news, with the full reviews of both the game and On Stranger Tides in May.
