Doctor Who CD Exclusive With The Guardian

The Guardian has been on a roll recently with regards to Doctor Who, exclusively releasing new audio adventure The Runaway Train before its retail début last May, and now set to do the same with previously unreleased The Hounds of Artemis this weekend. The story, set in last year's run of thirteen episodes, sees the Eleventh Doctor and Amy travel to Smyrna in 1929 as an archaeological dig sets a terrible chain of events in motion that leads the Time Lord to confront an ancient evil. It sounds like typical Who fanfare, but 2010's The Runaway Train was a great insight into how adventurous the audio range of Eleventh Doctor stories can be, as was The Ring of Steel. The Hounds of Artemis is read by current Doctor Matt Smith, and will come free with The Guardian in the Saturday edition, along with another previously released Doctor Who CD on Sunday. You can also listen to the story, written by James Goss, when it releases for £10 on the 5th of May. Season Six of the BBC sci-fi is set to air for seven weeks starting this April with a two part story set in America opening the run and the first episode of another two-parter, reportedly called "Demon's Run", which will reveal River Song's identity, the "true relationship of the Doctor and Amy", the "tragic mistake Rory makes" and see the Doctor's life "change forever" according to Steven Moffat. The show will then return in September for six more episodes to complete the season and a Christmas Special at the back end of 2011, with spin-offs Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures also getting new seasons in the Summer and Autumn respectively- in other words, a great year to be a Who fan!
