No Co-Operative Modes For Bulletstorm

Ouch. Planning to play Bulletstorm offline or online with another gamer just like developer People Can Fly promised when the game was first announced? There's been a change of plan: no multi-player whatsoever will be included in the final product, due out this Friday. If you saw my hands-on impressions recently then you'll know I wasn't very thrilled by the single player campaign mission on offer, and in all honesty I was most excited about the vast possibilities of creative co-op shooting in Bulletstorm, so this is a major drawback in itself. As to why the mode has been chucked out so late into the development process, a People Can Fly representative said: "At one point it actually worked, but we found that the game shifted from being this kind of puzzle shooter into this downhill skiing simulator where people were seeing how fast they could get to the bottom. Really the game just broke down." That the developer is still pressing Bulletstorm as a puzzle shooter is more worrying still from what I've seen, since anyone with expectations of a game worthy of other puzzle shooters like Portal is going to be sorely disappointed come February 25th. We'll see what the game really has to offer in my full review next week!
