WORLD EXCLUSIVE: Doctor Who Experience Review (5/5)

Were the Doctor Who Experience based solely around its much-anticipated walk-through adventure starring Matt Smith, the new London attraction would probably rank at roughly 4/5 here at On-Screen. Alone, the interactive show would seem too short to be worth the £15-20 admission price. It's with the major exhibition, though, easily eclipsing those found in Land's End, Cardiff and other places considered hard to reach by most British fans in that instead of shying away from the 1963-89 classic material that Doctor Who has offer it seems utterly proud of the show's long heritage, showcasing heroes and villains such as the Doctor and his arch foes the Daleks throughout the ages (sure to be a real highlight for dedicated viewers), plus giving entrants the chance to look behind the scenes at how costumes, sounds, effects and monster movements are created, allowing for some fine interaction that rings home just how pleasingly different the Experience is from any Who related attraction before it. But back to the titular adventure: yes, its length will leave a little to be desired by those hoping for a 45-minute story in the vein of a regular episode, however it is packed to the brim with moments that will thrill any fan of any age, for example a crack in time and space tearing open a wall, and piloting the TARDIS after it materialises right in front of you. This sort of experience is something I truly believe cannot be offered anywhere else in London (or in Cardiff, the location the Experience will move to permanently this December), boasting insane value for cash as a bonus to the best exhibition yet- and a cracking souvenier shop to boot! It is important to note that this one is definitely for the fans, and if you don't know your Pandoricas from your Prisoner Zeros then you may find yourself a bit lost, but I'm guessing most people reading this review are interested to see if the Experience will suit them as fans of the show either since 1963 or 2005, and so I'll conclude by telling them that the Doctor Who Experience comes highly recommended from me, if not only for the chance to explore three TARDIS sets and yet so much more!
