We're going to see the final plot strands of the 2012 Avengers film put into place in Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger in the coming months, but that's not to say recent Marvel films starring members of the famed team haven't included a few hints of where the epic team-up might head next Summer. Take a look below for the story of The Avengers so far...
-IRON MAN- Eagle eyed viewers spotted Captain America's iconic shield in the original Iron Man film, but more obviously we were treated to a post-credits scene where Nick Fury (head of spy organisation S.H.I.E.L.D) reminds Tony Stark he isn't "the only superhero in the world", asking to discuss the "Avengers Initiative". Of course, what could that ever come to...?
-THE INCREDIBLE HULK- It could come to quite a lot, as it happens: at the end of this revamp, Stark (Iron Man) approaches a disgraced General Ross in a bar, noting that Ross has a "problem" in the form of the Hulk and that he's putting a "team" together. Could the Hulk be the baddie in 2012?
-IRON MAN 2- As well as the Captain America being more obviously shown now, Nick Fury tells Tony that his dangerous actions in the flick mean he's not eligible for a place on the team yet, but that he can recruit other members until then (this takes place before Hulk, as details of the green monster's rampage play in the background). Afterwards, Phil Coulson (a SHIELD agent) tells Fury that they've "found it", and which point we see Thor's hammer next to what looks to be a hole in the Earth. To be continued this May, in other words!
-THOR/CAPTAIN AMERICA- That's the story so far, and we know Fury (Samuel L Jackson, above) and Coulson (Clark Gregg) will be back for both upcoming Avenger films to recruit the team's most famous members, so maybe we'll also get a shot of the entire team at the end of Captain America...?
