February 2011: Best Release

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two WorldsThat Marvel VS Capcom 3 didn't get very much wrong in the eyes of fans who had been waiting for ten years for their next dose of comic-book fighting is a huge feat unto itself, and one that will not be forgotten in a hurry. Instead of your average Street Fighter, we received a bombastic, often psychedelic fighter that wasn't afraid to make you think and watch the screen carefully most of the time. Sure, there wasn't much of a plot, but that was compensated for by 36 character endings that featured tons of cameos from characters that didn't make it in such as Ghost Rider and Iron Fist, improving on most other contenders in the genre by a mile. Ultimately, Marvel VS Capcom 3 was just great fun, beating Bulletstorm in its longevity, and topping I Am Number Four for likeability and dedication to the source material, so it's no wonder it was the best entertainment release to be found in February 2011. Maybe it won't get on to the list of games battling it out for critics' (and my) Best Game of 2011, but it should still be remembered for great multi-player and insane replay value. Note: from now on, with each Best Release at the bottom of the page I will place in bold the winners of this accolade in previous months as such:
