Doctor Who Series 6- First Enemy, Writer Revealed
Speaking to members of the press at the launch of the Doctor Who Experience, Matt Smith revealed yesterday that an adversary long teased by executive producer Steven Moffat will make its debut in the opening two-parter of Series 6, and that a writer from the 2010 season will return to pen another story this year. An enemy called the Silence is set to appear in the first two episodes of the show in April, set in 1960s America as the Doctor is called on a secret mission by the President and River Song ("We've been...recruited"). The entity has been mentioned several times on the television programme, with the ominous threat that "Silence will Fall" looming over the Time Lord's travels through time and space throughout Series 5. In addition, Toby Whithouse has been revealed to have written Episode 11, apparently a spooky tale featuring confirmed guest star David Walliams as an alien menace. Whithouse has previously written 'The Vampires Of Venice' (5/5), which was a great throwback to the classic series, so chances are we're in for another real winner in this season that seems to be becoming increasingly darker (Mark Gatiss' episode that plays on childhood fears had to be moved out of the Spring half of the show to make sure it wasn't completely full of dark episodes). More Who coverage right here at On-Screen this week, with reviews of The Hounds of Artemis, System Wipe, The Good The Bad & The Alien, The Rescue, The Romans and the Doctor Who Experience itself all on their way!
