Red River Release Date Revealed

Operation Flashpoint: Red River has been on the radar for quite some time now, and we can now confirm that the release date for the anticipated shooter isn't too far away. The game, developed and published by Codemasters, will come out for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on April 26, just four days after Portal 2, the innovative physics puzzler thought by critics to be a serious contender for Best Game of 2011. That Red River will release so soon after Valve's hyped sequel is a risky move by Codemasters, especially as its predecessor Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising (7/10) didn't exactly go down a hit with Call of Duty and Medal of Honour fans, but perhaps if Portal doesn't offer everything it should have (unlikely, but it could happen somehow) this will swoop in and take a decisive tactical victory. As I said, unlikely, but in a year where major developers like Visceral Entertainment and Rockstar Games release their titles early to avoid the onslaught of big entries in Autumn, anything can happen on the fictional and literal playing field. Can Operation Flashpoint make a big enough comeback to wow both casual and hardcore audiences? Only two months until we find out...
