Marvel VS Capcom 3 First Reviews Are In

Marvel VS Capcom 3 hits UK game retailers this Friday, so in preparation for 2011's first big video gaming release online reviewers have been posting their thoughts on how the ten year gap between franchise entries have affected expectations on/the execution of the new fighter title. CVG gave MVC3 a 7.9/10 for being initially difficult for casual players to pick up and play, but that that has been the lowest score so far is pretty impressive considering the game heralds from a genre that could easily become stale at some point! 1UP were far more praising, rating it at A- for being "way more fun than Super Street Fighter IV" despite ocassionally being "cheap and overpowered". Meanwhile, IGN said Marvel VS Capcom 3 deserved a healthy 8.5/10, only criticising the lack of modes compared to recent Street Fighter efforts, but also noting that this was probably due to Capcom wanting to simplify the fighter back to what made 2000's Marvel VS Capcom 2 such a success. GamesMaster even went so far as to rate it at 90% as "the most explosive, OTT, fan-pleasing 2D fighter the world's ever seen", and they weren't the only ones: Official Playstation Magazine, Official Xbox Magazine, GamesRadar, GameInformer and GamePro all went for 9s too. Does this guarantee you'll like Marvel VS Capcom 3 no matter whether you're a fan of either company? Get my full verdict next Tuesday as promised!
