Tim Schafer's Next Game Is...Sesame Street
With great games like Brutal Legend (8.5/10) under his belt, the question on every fan's mind has been just what innovative gaming experience will Tim Schafer create next? The answer is, of course, Sesame Street: Once Upon A Monster, out exclusively for Microsoft's Xbox 360 Kinect this Autumn. As we all know, Sesame Street is one of the biggest exclusives for a console to have right now, rivalling the Call of Dutys and Halos of this generation with its incredible cast and moving stories, and Once Upon A Monster's use of a plot featuring not just such icons as Big Bird and Elmo but storybook creature the Gruffalo should ensure that this is Game of the Year material. (Pauses while you take it all in) Right, then, notice any sarcasm in there? Sufficed to say Tim Schafer only tapped at his vast gaming potential with Brutal Legend, so this doesn't really feel the obvious next step for his studio Double Fine to take (why not a BL sequel for Kinect?), and since Sesame Street has barely any track record in video gaming- let alone a good one- we really can't say what to expect in Once Upon A Monster, but can exclusively confirm it's unlikely to consist of epic musical strategy battles and have its main protagonist played superbly by Jack Black. More news on this as it comes...
