Smallville To End On Two-Hour Finale

Smallville is well into its tenth season now over in the US, with Matrix-style episode 'Collateral' premièring on American channel The CW last Friday, and the thirteenth episode 'Beacon' set to do so later this week. With that in mind and the end of shooting becoming ever closer, the show's producers have today revealed details of the show's finale. The series climax will air on May 13th with a running time of two hours, originally a two-part story to be shot and aired separately but now one cohesive finisher that will "send Clark soaring towards his birthright to secure his place in history as the world's greatest protector". If that weren't exciting enough, the story- currently dubbed 'Finale'- will see the soon-to-be Superman "taking on Darkseid and battling the darkest of his demons" before becoming the true Man of Steel. Executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders said that "paying homage to ten seasons is no small task, and wrapping up each character and story arc has been extremely important", marking the show's finale "a television event". Surely, though, Lex Luthor will make an appearance before Smallville goes off air? The team are keeping tight-lipped here, so I for one am hoping that the hints at Clark's demons and "legendary transformation" involve his arch-nemesis since you would think that beating Lex while realising their confrontation will be an eternal one would be the perfect way for the man Lois still calls Smallville to become her super husband. All the news on the finale can be found right here as and when it comes, and rest assured I'll do my best to see it long before it hits UK (late October, I'm guessing, as that's when Series 9 ended in 2010 and Series 10 looks to start here around the same time as before sadly) televisions!
