A brilliant period for entertainment- I'm not muppeting about!
This week's a very busy one for the world of entertainment- I'd say the busiest of the year so far, perhaps not necessarily one that'll signal change in the number of releases per week but still a significant one in 2012 all the same. Here's everything you can expect...
AT THE MOVIES- Daniel Radcliffe returns from his Potter days to bring us a thrilling horror adaptation with The Woman In Black- plus, a couple more exciting new movies are on their way, as you'll see below...
GAME ON- NEW GAMES! Sorry, sound familiar? Well, we've got Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition, EA Grand Slam Tennis 2, Mario & Sonic At The London 2012 Olympic Games 3DS, Catherine and The Darkness II to look forward to in the next seven days, and another exciting title (see below)...
SWITCH ON THE TELLY- A spanner is thrown into the works for the con-team in this week's penultimate Hustle, while the team of fantasy creatures deal with the ramifications of Being Human's epic season opener in the second episode and Danny finds himself locked in prison in the new instalment of Wild At Heart. Elsewhere, a big awards ceremony gets running (see below again)...
CRANK UP THE TUNES- The Pet Shop Boys make their return with their album Format; as does Paul McCartney with Kisses On The Bottom (you can make of that title what you will) and Maverick Sabre with his Lonely Are The Brave.
THE MUPPETS- We've got a cracking ensemble movie storming its way into cinemas three months on the trail of its US release- yep, The Muppets is finally in town here in Great Britain, and I for one can't wait to see what laughs and gags are in store for the piece!
STAR WARS EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE 3D- There are few of us who would call The Phantom Menace our favourite instalment in the Star Wars saga, but nevertheless myself and many members of the movies' extensive fanbase can't wait to see Qui-Gon Jinn, pod-racers, Darth Maul and Jar-Jar Binks- okay, just kidding- back on the big screen in three dimensions.
KINGDOMS OF ALAMUR: RECKONING- From the team who penned The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Oblivion comes a brand new fantasy RPG that looks set to consume just as much of our time as Skyrim, with an ace storyline and levelling system to boot...
THE UNTOLD STORY BEGINS- Oh yes, we're going to get another look at the 'untold story' of Peter Parker with a brand new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man debuting online tomorrow morning. I'll bring you full coverage and thoughts on the preview later in the day!
BAFTAS- And finally this Sunday we'll be finding out which films British viewers have named as their best movies of the past year- could Harry Potter, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy dominate their nominated categories, or are there surprises to come...?
ON THE BLOG- First impressions on Reckoning; the DVD/Blu-Rays of Sherlock Series 2 and Doctor Who: The Doctor, The Widow And The Wardrobe rated; new trailers for The Avengers; John Carter; The Amazing Spider-Man and Battleship revealed; what the critics are saying about The Darkness II; as well as reviews of Halo: Legends and Harry Potter: Page To Screen, and much, much more!
