Filling The Doctor Who Void- News Roundup (30th January-5th February)

New Series 7 details aplenty! (No, not really, it's been a slow week.)
Another week, another bunch of minor Doctor Who updates- nothing revolutionary for now, but we've at least got a couple of extra Series Seven tidbits to glance over...
RIVER'S STILL RUNNING HER COURSE- Alex Kingston has revealed that River will be back for Series Seven. "Let's just say, Upstairs Downstairs and Doctor Who don't film at the same time."
THE PEN IS AS MIGHTY AS ITS ANNOUNCER- Doctor Who Magazine's editor Tom Spilsbury has revealed that this week's edition of the official magazine will contain the names of the writers of this year's run of episodes. Confirmed so far are Steven Moffat, John Fay and Mark Gatiss, and Gareth Roberts and Steve Thompson are rumoured to be returning too. Watch this space...
MORE CONVENTIONAL STARS- Ian McNeice (Winston Churchill in Victory of the Daleks, The Pandorica Opens and The Wedding of River Song), Stuart Milligan (Canton-Deleware III in The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon) and Raquel Cassidy (Jennifer in The Rebel Flesh and The Almost People) have all been confirmed to appear at the Official Convention next month. I won't be there, sadly, but I'll bring you as much coverage as possible all the same!
SERIES 7 TEASED DOWN UNDER- At this weekend's Doctor Who Symphony Spectacular in Melbourne, Australia, Steven Moffat teased the next run of the show in the programme for the event. "Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary is coming," the Moff says (who knew?). "In Cardiff, we're gearing up for the biggest, the best and the most ambitious season we've ever made. There will be shocks, surprises and heartbreaks- the Doctor is about to say goodbye to his very best friends, Amy and Rory. And then he's about to say hello to someone very different- the Doctor is going to meet someone very new in the last place he could have expected..." Exciting stuff, and it'll be interesting to see when the transition from the Ponds to the new companion will take place.
