Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has today revealed the first official details on what to expect from the next run of episodes from Arrow Season Two, set to commence broadcasting later this year. The show's mid-season finale, Three Ghosts, aired last month and concluded with the thrilling revelation that Oliver Queen's assumed-deceased ally Slade Wilson is alive and well, but is preparing a terrible fate of a currently unknown nature for the Arrow's everyday alter-ego.
So, where next for The CW's finest drama yet? Kreisberg remains relatively vague about the upcoming run of instalments, but what he has told TV Line is certainly a start- here's our round-up of the producer's comments on events still to come:
- ON THE NEXT RUN'S PREMISE- "We're coming back with a bang. We'll be seeing Slade and his machinations to bring about Oliver's downfall. Slade has a very specific goal in the back half of the season, and I think people will be surprised to discover both what it is and what it means to Oliver."
- ON LAUREL'S CHARACTER ARC- "These next four episodes are a big Laurel chapter. We'll see her drug use come back to bite her, and she hits rock bottom. Katie Cassidy is deliving the most amazing performances!"
- ON OLLY AND FELICITY- "We just do what we feel is right, and up until this point we've been lucky that most of the audience has agreed with our choices. Our lead has chemistry with multiple actresses. It's nothing we're going to be upset about."
TV Line have revealed in addition that Amanda Waller (who recently appeared in Season Two's sixth episode, Keep Your Enemies Closer) will return to the series in its latest outings, and that Oliver's loyal bodyguard Diggle will take centre stage once again in the not too distant future. As ever, then, Arrow's prospects of success appear far more plentiful than those over at ABC with Marvel's Agents of SHIELD!
Arrow returns to The CW on Wednesday January 15th and to Sky1 in February.
