The Wolverine himself joins Joe Wright's prequel outing.
Warner Brothers Pictures have today announced a new guest star set to feature in their upcoming fantasy film Pan. This piece of casting news is the first definitive detail that we've heard on the production since the instatement of Atonement's Joe Wright as its director.
The role of Captain Blackbeard in this currently-mysterious prequel instalment will be played by Hugh Jackman. Jackman is best known for his portrayal of mutant superhero Wolverine in the X-Men blockbuster franchise, but has diversified his creative output remarkably in the past few years, with award-winning turns in Les Miserables and Australia cementing his status as an iconic Australian performer. Blackbeard wasn't a central narrative element in J.M. Barrie's original children's novel Peter Pan or Geraldine McCaughrean's recent sequel Peter Pan In Scarlet, but perhaps this will provide Wright with the opening he needs to distinguish his latest motion picture from the hordes of beloved adaptations which have come before it.
Pan flies past the second star to the right, straight on till morning and into cinemas worldwide on June 26th, 2015.
