What comes after a Fall? Why, a Best Man's Speech, of course...
The BBC have this evening premièred the television trailer for the second episode of Sherlock's new series. Titled The Sign of Three, the 90-minute instalment is a loose adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes novel The Sign of Four, and as per usual stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the Great Detective, Martin Freeman as John Watson and Amanda Abbington as Mary Morstan.
Abbington's character won't be going by quite the same name for much longer, however. The Sign of Four introduced Morstan for the first time, and while showrunners Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss have justifiably played with the series' chronology to suit their own ends in Season Three, one impending event that will stay true to the source material is the wedding of John and Mary. Best of all, Holmes himself has a best day speech to present, his approach sure to become iconic within moments of the episode's broadcasting, provided that Baker Street's most renowned resident can prevent the emergence of a deadly killer at the reception.
Sherlock continues with The Sign of Three this Sunday January 5th at 8.30pm on BBC One.
P.S. Our review of tonight's opening episode, The Empty Hearse, will be on the blog in the next day or so!
