The Nintendo WiiU's most-anticipated exclusive of 2014 finally has its launch day.
Nintendo have today announced the global release window for their upcoming racing video game Mario Kart 8. Set to launch exclusively on the company's WiiU console, the sequel to 2011's 3DS effort Mario Kart 7 is one of only a select number of first-party titles coming to this increasingly neglected piece of hardware in the next eleven months.
Moreso than usual, our knowledge of exactly what the final product will entail is particularly limited. Mario Kart Wii's motorbikes and the recent 3DS instalment's adaptive air-scaling and underwater-capable vehicles will both make a return, along with the fan favourite stage of Mushroom Kingdom, but beyond the series' standard racers- Mario, Luigi, Peach et al- there's next-to-no info on which classic Nintendo heroes and villains will comprise the main roster of initial and unlockable characters. The publisher's current focus is on reviving the popularity of their home console, and rightly so, yet unveiling more details on what could be argued as their most significant in-development project is equally essential in the run-up to its release...
Mario Kart 8 will retail on Nintendo WiiU in May.
