The BBC have today released the official single for the Sport Relief 2014 charity fundraising campaign. Since 2002, the central, fitness-themed live show has alternated with the comedy-orientated Comic Relief, and although we can't claim to be major fans of the former programme's tone, it's all most certainly for a good cause.
This year's companion song comes from The X Factor's 2011 winners Little Mix, and is titled Word Up. Compared to the abomination that was One Direction's cover of Blondie and The Undertones' One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)- released in aid of Comic Relief last year- this cover of a Cameo R&B track from the 1980s makes for relatively compelling listening, if only because the vocal harmonies of Perrie, Jesy, Leigh-Anne and Jade are far more smoothly synchronised than those of Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis (don't worry, we did find out those names courtesy of Wikipedia rather than reciting them from memory!).
The Sport Relief 2014 live show will broadcast via BBC One on Friday, March 21st, and will feature a special Only Fools & Horses sketch as well as a live performance of Word's Up from Little Mix.
