Director Matt Reeves returns for a third prequel instalment in the Planet of the Apes series!
A third film in the revived Planet of the Apes franchise has today been confirmed for release via Deadline. The site reports that 20th Century Fox representatives have recently been privy to a screening of director Matt Reeves' near-final cut of upcoming sequel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, with the movie leaving an impression substantial enough to warrant the greenlight for a successive outing.
With Dawn still another six months away from its release, details at this preliminary stage are all-but-non existent, save for that Matt Reeves will return to helm the series' next chapter. Until then, and until the Cloverfield direction's first contribution to the franchise, why not check out Planet of the Apes, Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Escape from the Planet of the Apes, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, the 2001 reboot (though we're told that there are a fair number of reasons not to do so in that case) or the more effective indirect reboot Rise of the Planet of the Apes as a bit of pleasurable revision of the films' convoluted mythology so far?
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes climbs into cinemas worldwide on July 11th, 2014.
