The Xbox One's first major FPS will stage a trial run next month.
Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have today revealed new details on their upcoming first-person shooter video game Titanfall. Set to release later this year, the latest creation from the minds behind Call of Duty and Battlefield is primarily an online experience, built from the ground up exclusively for Microsoft's various consoles.
The announcement which will probably have the most significant influence in the immediate future is that a beta demo of the game will launch in February on Xbox One and PC. No specific details regarding available maps and loadouts have been confirmed as of yet, but a February 14th launch is apparently Respawn's goal (because honestly, what better way could there be to celebrate Valentine's Day?), and this trial run should be nothing but a positive omen in terms of how the team can then refine the gameplay experience in time for its full retail première.
Meanwhile, another mystery surrounding the overall project has been solved as January reaches its end. The identity of the team developing Titanfall's Xbox 360 version was previously unknown, but EA have now confirmed that Bluepoint Games are hard at work on the current-generation port. Bluepoint's work prior to this instatement has included God of War Collection, The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, all of which were superb high-definition reworkings of classic PlayStation 2 titles, so it seems that Respawn's much-anticipated FPS is in fine hands in its 360 guise...
Titanfall mobilises on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC consoles nationwide this March 13th.
