Screenplay writer John Logan has this week revealed the first details on the tone and narrative of the twenty-fourth James Bond feature film. Set to go before the cameras later this year, Bond 24 will see Daniel Craig reprise his role as Ian Fleming's iconic secret agent, joined by recurring guest stars such as Ralph Fiennes (M), Naoime Harris (Eve Moneypenny) and Ben Whishaw (Q) as well as some as-of-yet unannounced newcomers to the franchise.
Discussing his current screenplay with IGN, Logan was coy on specific details of the next instalment's plot, but did provide some foundations upon which we can at least begin to speculate. Here's a round-up of what the screenwriter had to say:
- ON THE INFLUENCE OF SKYFALL'S NARRATIVE- "My goal is to write a great movie that's appropriate, to build on what we did on Skyfall, but make it its own unique animal. The themes and the characters from Skyfall can obviously continue on, because it's a franchise, and it is an ongoing story. So I think there's resonance from Skyfall in the new movie."
- ON THE INFLUENCE OF IAN FLEMING'S NOVELS AND CLASSIC FILMS- "I grew up on the Bond movies, the first one I saw was Diamonds are Forever when I was just a kid. I just loved them to pieces. I love all the elements, from the books- mostly from the novels. Going back to Ian Fleming is where I started with Skyfall- and there's certainly elements of the movies and the novels that we brought into the new film."
- ON THE POSSIBILITY OF AN APPEARANCE FROM (CLASSIC VILLAIN) BLOFIELD- "I think our villain is appropriate to the story we're telling..."
Bond 24 will line up its shot in UK cinemas nationwide on October 23rd, 2015.
