Warner Brothers Pictures have today released the theatrical trailer for their upcoming mystery drama movie Veronica Mars. A continuation of the cult TV series of the same name, the film stars Kristen Bell (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Jamie Lee Curtis (Zoey 101, and if that doesn't take readers back, then I don't know what will), James Franco (Spider-Man, Pineapple Express, 127 Hours) and Justin Long (Dodgeball).
More significant still is this particular motion picture's unique roots. The CW axed Veronica Mars in 2007 as its ratings began to falter, at which point all hope of a future for the programme seemed lost. Bell, however, later initiated a 'Kickstarter' campaign to resurrect her character in a big-screen instalment of the series, a campaign which ultimately came to fruition in the early months of 2013. Naturally, the pressure for Bell and the production team to succeed is so great that should their return to the public eye fail to have its desired impact, then they can kiss goodbye to any further opportunities for a revival. Nothing in the trailer itself (below) indicates a colossal dud is on its way as of yet- however, first impressions can be deceptive...
Veronica Mars lines up its lenses in US cinemas on March 14th, with a UK box office release date still to be announced.
