Sony Pictures have today released a new teaser trailer for their upcoming superhero film The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Continuing the franchise's rebooted narrative arc, the second instalment stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Jamie Foxx as Electro, Paul Giamatti as Rhino and Dane DeHaan as the Green Goblin.
Much of the footage on display here (below) was apparently present in the sequel's original ComicCon 2013 trail, but with New York City often playing host to grand celebrations of the New Year, Sony's marketing strategy in holding the content back for the final day of 2013 is inspired. What a shame it is, then, that the CGI work employed to bring Foxx's Electro to the screen doesn't appear to have paid full dividends, since the antagonist of the piece doesn't come off as particularly superior to Rhys Ifans' shoddy Lizard in this third and presumably penultimate teaser.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into cinemas worldwide on April 18th, 2014.
