Producer Bryan Singer has today revealed the first details on 20th Century Fox's upcoming superhero film X-Men: Apocalypse. A sequel to this Summer's time-travelling franchise crossover X-Men: Days of Future Past, the eighth chapter in the motion picture series of adaptations will allegedly recentre its focus on the younger cast of the acclaimed 2011 prequel First Class.
Singer is currently putting the finishing touches to Days of Future Past (as its director), but what he has to say on its successor (interviewed by Entertainment Weekly) should more than sate fans' appetites for the time being:
- ON HIS ROLE IN PRODUCTION- "I'm co-writing the story and I'm producing it. I'm negotiating to direct. We're in the process. We're trying to figure it out, schedules. My desire would be to direct it."
- ON A POTENTIAL POST-CREDITS TEASER IN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST- "I'm still deciding that. Something that happens in [Days of Future Past] causes what's going to happen in [Apocalypse]."
- ON APOCALYPSE- "It will [...] address historical mutant-cy, meaning the deep past, mutant origins and things like that. It's something that's always intrigued me when we think about our Gods and our history and miracles and powers."
X-Men: Apocalypse materialises in cinemas worldwide on May 27th, 2016.
