Jennifer Lawrence's Girl on Fire returns to the big screen this Winter.
Lionsgate Studios have today released the first promotional poster (left) for their upcoming science-fiction film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. A direct sequel to 2013's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the movie will again star Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson and Elizabeth Banks, and will introduce renowned thespians including Natalie Dormer and Evan Ross into its sizeable character ensemble.
Short of any grand commercial catastrophe occurring within the next year or so, it appears that virtually every Hollywood studio will follow the multi-tiered format of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in bringing the final instalments of their adapted franchises to cinemas. The approach has met with varying success in recent years, Twilight: Breaking Dawn being a prime example of its beneficial ends in its tweaking of the source material's underwhelming climax, and The Hobbit in contrast representing a more difficult-to-justify, bloated expansion of the original text. Any fans of Lionsgate's current pet project who are unaware of the narrative of Suzanne Collins' teen fantasy novels should be warned that Part 1 may not be a particularly eventful outing in comparison to its predecessor or indeed its successor, but it should effectively pave the way for a truly outstanding 'season finale' come 2015.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 takes flight in cinemas worldwide on November 21st.
