FOX's Chairman of Entertainment Kevin Reilly has this month revealed additional details on what fans of the studio's musical drama Glee can expect from the remainder of its fifth season. Reilly spoke at a TCA (Television Critics Association) panel regarding ongoing FOX projects earlier this month.
As we can well imagine, the tragic passing of Cory Monteith has had a substantial effect with regards to the tonal direction of the programme in recent episodes. Judging by Reilly's comments on the intended state of the series' overarching narrative and setting after the (unconfirmed) episode where the current McKinley High students graduate, Glee could turn out to be a very different show in a few weeks' time. Here's a round-up of what the exec had to say at TCA 2014 to The Hollywood Reporter:
- ON SEASON FIVE'S FINAL EPISODES- "Some [characters] are going to be graduating and moving; creatively, it would be ridiculous that everybody moves to New York [which will become the show's primary setting after the graduation occurs]. There will be some that will graduate and move on and they'll arc back in when we do special episodes. They'll always be a part of it. The way it's going to dovetail next season, we'll see some familiar faces coming around in some capacity. But for this season, there will be a graduation, several of the cast members will move on and a few others will go to New York."
- ON SEASON SIX- "[Exec Ryan Murphy]'s got some fantastic ideas on what we're going to do next year for the final year."
Glee returns to Sky1 in February.
