Our Best Film of 2013 runner-up heads to DVD and Blu-Ray in two months' time.
Lionsgate Studios have today announced the global release date of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on DVD and Blu-Ray. Picking up in the immediate aftermath of 2011's The Hunger Games, the sequel sees protagonist Katniss Everdeen force to decide between her family loyalties and the safety of Panem as a civilization ahead of her entrapment in the deadliest Hunger Games competition yet.
The transition period between box office and retail releases of films is getting slimmer by the day, since not even four months will have passed since Catching Fire's début in cinemas when it lands on DVD and Blu-Ray discs in all good retailers. All the same, the marketing bandwagon for Mockingjay Part 1 will undoubtedly need to get under way sooner rather than later in light of its November box office launch, and by bringing their acclaimed follow-up to retail ASAP, Lionsgate will definitely clear the way to roll out further posters and trailers for the series' penultimate instalment...
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire sounds its Mockingjay-tuned whistle in DVD and Blu-Ray retailers worldwide on March 17th.
