Gavin & Stacey may be long gone, but Sky1's popular sports quiz isn't going anywhere.
Sky1 have this week announced the commissioning of three further seasons of their sports quiz show A League of Their Own. Hosted by The Wrong Mans star James Corden, the series regularly plays host to celebrity guest stars, the most notable of whom to appear in Season Seven were Doctor Who's Matt Smith, The I.T. Club's Richard Ayoade and Britain's Got Talent's David Walliams.
Of all the commissions we're likely to hear about over the course of the next few weeks, this one will probably come as the least surprising development for long-term followers of League. Ever since its 2010 première, the series has gone from strength to strength, attracting more viewers and more esteemed panelists with each passing season. It would have come as a far greater surprise if the show hadn't been brought back after its seventh run, in all honesty, and despite us hardly being major sporting fans at On-Screen, we're at least glad to see that a programme which has more than earned its success is being given to opportunity to shine for a longer window of time by Sky.
A League of Their Own will return for its eighth season this Summer on Sky1, with Seasons Nine, Ten and Eleven set to air in Summer 2015, Summer 2016 and Summer 2017 respectively.
