Paramount Pictures have this week announced the latest actor set to join the cast of their upcoming action thriller film Terminator: Genesis. A reboot of the Terminator franchise which has long been in the works, Genesis already has a decent few sci-fi and fantasy stars attached such as Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' Jason Clarke and, naturally, Arnie.
With the recruitment of their newest guest star, though, Paramount have confirmed without hesitation that this is a project which means business. Best known for his portrayal of the Eleventh Doctor in the BBC's long-running science-fiction drama Doctor Who, Matt Smith will play an as-of-yet unnamed role in next year's opening instalment in the revived dystopian saga. Smithians (as we're sure his fans are already calling themselves- if not, let it be know that we first coined the phrase here!) can take comfort in the knowledge that the British thespian will grace our screens once more in Ryan Gosling's Lost River later this year, but with his character reportedly set to feature in all three entries of the recently-announced Terminator trilogy (provided that its début outing is met with a warm reception), we can thankfully expect to see plenty more of the man who invented the now-iconic British dish of fish fingers and custard in the near future...
Terminator: Genesis activates in cinemas worldwide on July 1st, 2015.
