The Hollywood Reporter have this week confirmed the global release date of Warner Brothers Pictures' upcoming children's animated film LEGO Ninjago. Reportedly set to act as a spin-off from this year's critically praised blockbuster The LEGO Movie, the movie will focus loosely on the toy sub-brand of the same name and its titular world of magical weapons, mystical foes and courageous ninja warrior protagonists.
Cinematic Universes have become all the rage as of late, and what with the unprecedented levels of success which Marvel Studios have amassed thanks to their Avengers series, it's hardly difficult to see why. Between DC's impending Justice League of America saga (which begins with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016), Fox's inter-linked X-Men and The Fantastic Four storylines (which will continue next year with the danger-ridden reboot The Fantastic Four) and the aforementioned decade-spanning adventures of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes, these multi-tier projects are currently dominating the film industry from a commercial standpoint, and if the reports of Ninjago's connections to the superb LEGO Movie are indeed true, then we're ecstatic to see how Warner Brothers' latest ever-expanding narrative continuity will evolve in two years' time.
LEGO Ninjago sticks on "Eye of the Tiger" and kicks off its training montage in cinemas worldwide on September 23rd, 2016.
