It's probably come to your attention recently that the internet has been ablaze with hordes upon hordes of new announcements regarding the future of both the big-screen and small-screen's superhero productions. As has been the case on a few other occasions this year, here at On-Screen, we find it more beneficial for our readers to be able to access all of the information in one bumper-sized article rather than ploughing through a menagerie of isolated pieces.
Such is the nature of the necessity of this compilation's existence that there's plenty to get through, so without further ado, here's our definitive round-up of all things Marvel and DC that you'll want to hear about:
- MARVEL'S AGENT CARTER, THE FLASH LOGO IMAGES DÉBUT- Hot off their announcement of the two shows receiving full season orders, ABC and The CW have this week released images of the official logos for Marvel's Agent Carter and The Flash respectively. You'll see the pretty memorable Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.-riffing teaser for the former above, and you can find the latter's logo below this list. Both programmes will broadcast the opening episodes of their first season this Autumn.
- GOTHAM, CONSTANTINE TEASER TRAILERS RELEASED- Continuing along the lines of news regarding upcoming US TV superhero projects, 20th Century Fox and NBC have additionally unveiled the teaser trailers for their detective/fantasy dramas Gotham and Constantine respectively. Whilst Fox's Batman prequel series is showing tonnes of promise in its initial video trail, it's NBC's unique religious series which has left us most exhilarated based on the teaser. Again, Gotham and Constantine will première this Autumn (with UK broadcasters still TBC), and both trailers can be found below this list.
- CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER UK DVD RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED- Last but far from least, Marvel Studios have this week announced the release date for the DVD and Blu-Ray editions of their recent hit superhero film Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In case you missed our review in March, The Winter Soldier represents one of the genre's finest offerings yet, and managed to sweep up our Best Release award for the month with ease. Special features (at least on the Blu-Ray disc) are sure to include a "Making Of" documentary and a new Marvel One-Short short film as well. Captain America: The Winter Soldier will ricochet into DVD and Blu-Ray retailers nationwide (UK) on August 18th.
