20th Century Fox have today released the UK and US theatrical trailers (below) for their upcoming fantasy film Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The sequel to 2011's critical and commercial hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes will take place ten years after its predecessor, chronicling the efforts of the last remaining human survivors to either overthrow their ape captors or to eventually seek peace so as to prevent their own race's extinction.
If you were fairly engaged by Dawn's teaser trailer but felt that it came up lacking in new footage, trust us when we say that both theatrical trails more than compensate in this regard. From English-speaking apes to the birth of Caesar's latest child to the eventual proclamation from the Ape leader that "war has already begun", there's very little here which we've seen before in promotional material. With any luck, Fox will still have a few aces up their sleeve when it comes to reserving key footage for the première of the film itself, but at this stage, we're too thrilled by the results of their latest video previews to be concerned about what's to come- in short, this could be the hottest contender for Film of the Year 2014 yet!
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes lays siege to cinemas worldwide on July 22nd.
